Senior UX & Design Systems
Twenty-five years across enterprise products, healthcare platforms, and data tools — in-house or as a contract design lead. The work shows up as research, information architecture, interaction design, and the design systems that hold a product together as it grows. The shape stays the same regardless of domain: understand the people who use the thing, find the structure the work actually wants, and build the components that let a team ship coherently against it.
A recent shape. Contract design lead on NielsenIQ's Discover platform — built the design system from a 4px grid up, mapped the product information architecture, and shaped the guided flows analysts now use to navigate retail data. Related work for Optum's care-management tools and Patterson Dental's customer-facing site.
Nonprofit Tech Strategy
Small organizations rarely need more software — they need the software they already have to behave like a system. I work with mission-driven teams on Salesforce, websites, photo and data archives, and the operational scaffolding that connects them. The work usually starts at the strategy layer — what are we actually trying to know about our work and our people? — and ends in the tooling, not the other way around. Built for budgets and staffing that have to outlast any one consultant.
A recent shape. Designed and built an integrated strategic operating system for a small mission-driven nonprofit — Salesforce as the system of record, a public-facing website aligned to the program calendar, and an AI-assisted photo indexer that turned a decade of unsearchable event photography into institutional memory.
Small Site Builds
Modern, owner-operated websites for artists, small organizations, and people who need a single clean signal on the open web. Built in Astro — fast, accessible, dependency-light, easy to maintain. The goal is a site you can keep without me: a calm structure, content you can edit in plain Markdown, and no surprise renewal fees from a platform you don't control.
A recent shape. A freelance murals portfolio, a personal site at krumpos.org, and a regional arts site — each handed off to its owner running on infrastructure they understand.
